The best remembered periodical essayist, dramatist, and a politician was a man named Sir Richard Steele. His birth date is not known but it is known that he was baptized on March 12, 1676 on Dublin, Ireland. Richard Steele’s father was also named Richard Steele; he was an attorney and his mother’s name was Elinor Sheyles; her occupation was not said. Unfortunately, after his parents passed away in 1676. Steele was placed under the guardianship of his uncle, Henry Gascoigne, which was secretary of to the Duke of Ormonde. One of his challenges he faced was that he only had one stage failure in 1703, which was The Lying Lover, that had only ran for six nights. Steele was accused of hypocrisy and mocked for the differences between his attitude precepts and genial convivial practice. In Steele’s plays the mor alistic tract would be echoed. Later that same year, Steele wrote his first comedy The Funeral or Grief A-la-mode. It was successfully performed at Drury Lane. This play made his reputation look good and was noticed by King William and the Whig leaders. Late in 1703, his second comedy, The Lying Lover was the only stage failure Steele had. It only had six runs. In 1705, Joseph Addison helped Steele with his third comedy called The Tender Husband. It was also a success, might have been because Addison put in his part by helping Steele. On August 12, 1709, Steele had released his paper called The Tatler, to be published thrice-weekly. It continued with Addison’s help. The Tatler issues were authored by Steele. Addison writing about 46 on his own and working with Steele he had about 36 done. The Tatler unfortunately discontinued on January 2, 1711. The reason for this is uncertain but mainly because of political reasons. Under the name of Isaac Bickerstaff, Richard Steele made a mixture of entertainment and instruction in a manner of morals that was going to be perfected in The Spectator. Evolution Reaction Paper After finish watching the movie Darwins Dangerous Idea, our biology teacher asks us to write a reaction paper based on each section in the movie. There are ten parts in the movie, which include: Darwins Observations from the Beagle, Humming Birds, Darwins Idea of Natural Selection, HIV Evolution, Complex Organs: made/evolve, Eye Evolution, God versus Natural Selection including Humans, Can God Fit in Science, Society Control of Church and Book Publishing. The first section in the movie is Darwins Observations from the Beagle. As Darwin was on the Beagle from 1831 to 1836 and traveled South America coastline, he found different finches on different climate on different islands. Furthermore, we can see this happens in many organisms in the world, like the giraffe has long neck to eat leaves on tall trees. The next section is about the eye evolution. Human eyes make possibly have been acquired by gradual selection of slight but useful deviation. In different organisms, they have eyes with different structures that make eyes can look further or not. Blood vessels and nerve vessels in front of eyes connect with the brain to show the image the eyes see. Eyesight helps animals with finding food or mates. Nowadays, when a lot of human use their eyes too much on books, computers, studies, the eyes get shortsighted, but human can get out of it be using glasses or go to an operation. Move on to the next section, we have God versus natural selection. This shows us that nature can do everything. Nature by itself unaided by God can even make eyes. The Hero’s Journey is inevitable. In order to find yourself you must go through this journey and succeed or you’ll descend into yourself until you dwindle. For example, Lindsey Lohan after Mean Girls, this movie is such a big hit for her everyone considers her this big up and coming actress and then she just flops. She gets addicted to drugs and can’t land a role to save her life. Her journey possibly ended during the diminishment stage which could’ve pushed her into alcohol and drugs to bring her back to her high. In order to be successful in the hero’s journey you have to go through the stages in stride and take the punches as you go. Cinderella is a great example of this. Before marrying the prince and living a luxurious life, she slept in front of the fire place and earned her name for being dusty and full of ashes. Her ordinary world was working for her own family and being ignored by her own father. For example, he didn’t stand up for her when her step sisters took her clothes away and told her she couldn’t sit with them at the kitchen table. Cinderella’s father one day goes to the fair and asks his step daughters and daughter what they want from the fair. Of course the stepdaughters tell them they want extravagant dresses but what Cinderella asks for is quite odd. She asks for the first branch the rubs against his hat. This symbolizes her love for both her parents because she didn’t want her father to waste his money on expensive things and after he get the branch she buries it on her mom’s grave and cries on it so much that the tears water it and it grows to become a tree. She goes to this tree and cries 3 times a day and always a white bird flies in the tree and watches her and if she wishes for anything the bird will throw it down to her. So instead of having a fairy godmother like in the Disney version Cinderella has the help of the white bird. The tree and the white bird signify love and protection from her mom. After hearing about the festival and begging her stepmother to go her step mom drops all the lentils in the ashes and tell Cinderella to pick out all the good ones from the bad and if she finishes by the time they have to leave then she can go. Cinderella gets all the birds to help her clean. While she was picking out the good and the bad lentils she started to tell the difference between good and bad people. By the time she’s done she has no time to get ready and her family leaves her but not before they insult her and bring her to tears. After not being able to go to the festival Cinderella cries to the tree for a beautiful silver and gold gown and gold shoes and the bird drops it down on her. According to a passage, â€Å"When Cinderella is clothed in â€Å"cloth of gold and silver† wearing â€Å"slippers of solid gold†Ã‚  she is revealed as the princess the reader wants her to be. Her physical beauty seems to bring out her graciousness even more than when she was just Ash Girl or Cinderwench. The color gold â€Å"suggests spiritual, good-hearted faithfulness a being in a more perfect state [exists] in greater perfection.   Cinderella can finally have faith in herself because gold reveals her inner beauty and her true nature of kindness. † (Wolfwikis) The hero’s journey starts right when she leaves to the three day festival in her beautiful gown. She catches the prince’s eye and sits with him and leaves before midnight. On the next night her stepmom drops the lentils in the ashes again and Cinderella gets even more of an understanding between good and evil and because of that the bird rewards her with an even more beautiful dress than the night before. On the third night Cinderella is running late and leaves her shoe behind and the prince finds it and starts looking for the girl who left the slipper. The prince gets to Cinderella’s house and the oldest stepsister tries it on and it turns out that her toes are too long so her mother tells her to cut her toes off she won’t need them when she’s queen. The prince rides away with her but the birds sing a song which tells him to look at her feet and see the blood gushing out her shoes. She isn’t the one he’s looking for. He goes back and the younger stepsister tries it on but her heel doesn’t fit so her mother says cut it off you won’t need it when your queen and the prince ride off with her but again the birds tell him to look at her feet and see the blood gushing out her shoes and he brings her back. Cinderella tries on the shoe and it fit and lies happily after sending the birds to peck out the eyes of the cruel stepsisters. Cinderella had blamed her step family for her misfortunes even though it was her fault for never standing up for herself in her own house. She diminished when she let herself be hurt by them. Her katabasis was crying to her mom’s grave and lightly giving up. And then she went and found her prince and tried to live an extravagant life those three days. Her return is slipping her feet in the shoes and marrying the prince. The hero’s journey is inevitable because you need it to transition from young adulthood to adulthood. I relate with Cinderella because she never gave up when she wanted something. She wanted to go to the festival and meet the prince and he did. She knew how to get to the festival even without the help of her family. She had nature and the birds and her mom and that’s all she needed. She sacrificed her well being to go to the festival like I sacrificed me going away to college so I can help support my mother so my sister can have a better college experience for themselves because they deserve it too.
